Patagonia is not for sissies. It is remote and it is vast, taking up almost 350,000 square miles of the southernmost part of South America. Roads are few, and often dirt. Gas stations, restaurants and hotels generally huddle around the handful of small cities and towns. The Andes soar to 10,000 feet in the north.
